PSHE matters Event

We are organizing an exhibition showcasing the talent and ideas of young people regarding the PSHE curriculum in the UK - the things that are missed and the bad effects of that. We are showcasing young artists from all over the UK to help us raise awareness about the issue. We are also working with charities that currently help to plug the gaps left by the PSHE curriculum, to write a new plan and trail it and pitch it to the government- that is where the ticket money fromt he exhibition will be going - to help us create useful and complete learning tools for PSHE classes.

Backing from Caroline Lucas

In July, Beth and Constance met with Caroline Lucas to discuss the current PSHE situation and what could be done to raise awreness around the teachings and curriculum of PSHE. The feedback from such a respected figure, and known campaigner to make PSHE compulsory, was motivatinal.

The work done by PSHE Matters is a really good example of exactly what young people can achieve when they are empowered.  Rightly, they are fed up of waiting for action from Government and they are getting together to help spread an essential message: young people want guidance.  Young people are clear and straight talking.  They want quality teaching on life skills, on sex, relationships, how to handle social media, how to be confident and resilient, how to stay safe, healthy and happy.

The only way that teachers will get the training they need to deliver the PSHE children and young people want is if quality PSHE has to be taught.

Grassroots campaigns like PSHE Matters are the backbone of the exciting campaign to make this happen.  The voices of young people themselves cannot be ignored and we already have Ministers thinking.  I hope many more young people will be inspired by PSHE Matters to get in touch with their MPs to call for PSHE for all.

Thank you to the inspiring PSHE Matters team!
